Where nature, history and art
are interwoven

About 15 km to the west of Bodrum you´ll find a very charming and popular village, named GUMUSLUK, which is in fact the well known historical MYNDOS. Many tiny seafood restaurants, located directly at the sea, will offer you delicious "sea fruits". The sunsets on this side of the peninsula are simply breath-taking.

Here a church from the Byzantium era still serves as place for cultural events. Gumusluk not only enchants visitors with its natural environment and historical heritage, but is furthermore - in many ways - a center stage for contemporary art.

Gumusluk is, simply said, a very charming place, where those, who are interested in history and archaeology, can spend their lifetime finding many object of interest - both on the country and under water, where artefacts of past civilizations keep waiting for being discovered.

If you love feeding rabbits on "rabbit island" (= "Tavsan Adasi"), you can reach the island wading through the sea. To the west this deep bay is covered with olive groves. To the east you will approach near-by villages at the waterfront

The water in this region is unusually clear and clean and is in addition suitable for all kinds of aquatic sport like e.g. water ski, sailing, kanu etc....

The old watch tower on the Gumusluk headland is an ideal embarkation point for yacht owners; they say that an inlet into the bay is possible and unproblematic even after sundown.

If you happen to make a short trip from Bodrum the southwest of the peninsula, take a break on the "windmill hill" -- from here the sight on the Gumusluk bay, which now looks like a natural patchwork, is a truly unforgettable miracle of nature. The sight of large and beautiful lemon groves, the fragrance of those many tangerine gardens, a rest in the shade of the windmills while watching a mysterious and magnificent afterglow -- you will never forget this for the rest of your life !

Afterwards it´s about time to visit one of the many restaurants at the sea, where tasty fish, filled shells or Sushi and octopus-salad is served.

And then, at the end of a wonderful day, it´s time for "Raki" (turkish anise liquor) ! While facing the clear and deep blue sea you get caught up into a pleasant chat with your friends -- while taking deep breaths of the iodine-rich sea air.
